Marisa's Evaluation: Freaky Advert/Filming.

Marisa’s Evaluation.

For the video production advert Myself (Actor), Reece (Actor) and Paige (Director) worked hard to produce a short fifteen to thirty second freaky video advert for our energy bar called "Avidity”.
We were given a maximum of three different locations along as they were in or around the college. After collecting the camera equipment from the media room we took the camera out with us and commence filming which was quickly stopped about thirty minutes into it because we were told unless we had permission we cannot film in the car park (which was our first and only choice). We then had to come back and re edit the whole story board again then we started filming again luckily with it being the college we made a great effort and god our filming done in perfect time.

After filming had finished we had to then go and edit the shots in a video editing software called Adobe Premiere Pro and although I never got the chance to use to due to time just being able to see the different tools to be used and fooled around with I can’t wait to see what or how our editing will come out. We used the storyboard design heavily on what certain shots would be like, how we would then do those shots and make sure it was the right shot and how to make it freaky and so thats what had to change too because like I said we were kicked out about 30 minutes into filming.

However we learnt how to turn the camera on first as some people don't know how too (I got it first try as I have had experience using that type of video camera before) the one thing i didn’t know about however was about how to set the white balance on so that the picture is actually being filmed in the right kind of colour contrasts and doesn't look weird or all white.

I feel accomplished as well as proud about our final groups work because we put a lot of thought into it and now it’s all most complete, If I could do it again I would probably do a whole lot more research into the place we choose as I do not want to be fined or threatened with legal action if we break any laws being on the property without permission.

None the less here is a screenshot of the adobe premiere pro editing software.

Owain Davies Evaluation.

In this Evaluation I will explain how I learned to use Photoshop to create my products magazine cover, Myself and my group produced a nutritional healthy energy bar that is called "avidity" (Another terminology for Energy) I mean of course we had quite a few ideas that ranged from deodorant to a drink but a bar seemed at the time the best bet as not many other people had done an energy bar although another group had done a chocolate bar but the difference is that ours is for fitness and helps provide a burst of energy we did look at alternate names like "zeal" but the rest of the group including myself couldn’t find an extra word that clicked with the name.. so we googled other names for zeal and thats when Avidity came up which means energy or enthusiasm.

We were tasked on creating a print advert and also had a list of all the things it contains inside the bar and that it was only £1 which is the retail price, we also had to come up with an advert between fifteen and thirty seconds long promoting our product (A.K.A an advert) we also researched a lot of things like what were in nutritional or energetic bars. We also had to to get the dimensions for product, And how we were going to make our advert freaky (watching freaky and unusual TV adverts proved helpful.)

Myself and my classmates learned many skills for creating the print advert like how to create it in Photoshop and the font for our product from a website called “Da Font" which proved incredibly helpful on my own printed advert as I will show you soon, I am very happy with the print advert as well as myself for all the work I put into this project I enjoyed it greatly and I can’t wait for the next one I am given. I have also learned what the usage of the variety of tools, including the section tool, which adds and affects and also manipulates the image! as stated below.

CTRL-T — Helps makes the image bigger plus rotates it.
CTRL-D — Which Deselects the image.
CTRL+ — Zooms into the image
CTRL - — Zooms out of the image

Photoshop it’s not as easy as it may come across so in my free time i will learn to get a better grasp of it! here is my almost finished version of my advert.

Photography Evaluation.

Memory check - A recap so far of things we have done in photography.

Q1. What is ISO and what does it effect?
ISO is the abbreviation for International Standards Organisation,
it effects the light levels of Photographs.

Q2. When would we use the ‘P’ control setting on the camera mode dial.

The 'p' stands for program this mainly used by new photographers because it allows the camera to do all of the settings.

Q3. Name two important consideration when attaching the tripod base plate to the bottom of camera?

1.) To make sure the base-plate isn't on too tight encase it snaps.

2.) Make sure that the tripod legs are stable otherwise it could fall over and break the camera if its attached.

Q4. Name three important considerations when using a red-head lighting kit

1.) Do NOT touch the bulb as it will be blistering hot.

2.) Make sure the power cable is away from feet as it is easy to trip over!

3.) Do not touch the barn doors as it keeps all the heat inside the bulb and it will burn you if touched.

Q5. When focusing the camera, what do we place on the object/subject to ensure it is the center of focus?

The LCD square that helps it focus on the object/person.

Q6. Name two techniques we can use to adjust the brightness and contrast of a photograph?

1.) Curves and Levels.

2.) The Aperture Settings

Photography Evaluation.

Mark’s Photography Evaluation.

During these past four weeks (I Wasn’t here during the first week) my class was tasked with creating a magazine advert with the theme of Freak and Unique. We started this task by researching different images on Google, we were told a maximum of ten images as long as it fit the criteria of this project.

After we had our images we had to narrow the selection down to five images and then were told we had to try and replicate the look. My first idea was my only idea had is what I ended up with. There for I have created a weird and unique advert, which has no reason behind it, it’s more of a stamp on modern art that the most randomness of things can capture the beholders eyes for them to make their own assumptions up about it.

I used the images of the following,
·     My DC Shoe.
·     A Statue with a Lanyard on it.
·     A Kit-Kat Crunchy Bar.
·     Sponge-Bob Plush.
·     Linda’s Camera.
·     A Dragon Toy?

Using these characters I created a completely random piece of art.

Photography skills I Have Gained.

The photography skills I have, is the knowledge of how the camera works and the different modes known as the following:
P = Program.
M = Manual.
A = Aperture.
S = Shutter Speed.

Now knowing when to use them and how to use them. I used a seamless white background. This helped me to correctly cut out the images while retaining enough background to mess on with.

The Edited Final Shot, What editing process did you use?

The editing process I used was called the curve tool and another one called the level tool to help adjust the images exposure and the background for my final and only image. Then I used the pen tool to have an accurate pathway so that I can cut out the images correctly. Another editing technic was to cut and copy and to multiple technics to create my final image.

What would you do differently next time and what did you learn from your first assignment?

I learned how to compose and focus an image correctly by using the rule of thirds and knowing what the different modes were on the dial such as like listed previously listed “Program, Aperture, Shutter Speed and Manual” I also know how a basic studio is set up as well as the health and safety guide that comes with creating a safe environment to take photos. I also know how a basic amateur studio is set up and what equipment was used to do the photos. What I would do different next time is by having a better plan and proposal sorted as well as getting to know Photoshop better.

Creating a freaky and unique advert. - Photography.

In this lesson we worked with mark to create a creepy montage.

Me, Sam and Linda and Daniel took photos of 6 items to warp them into certain images.

Previews below.

 The headphones before Photoshop.
I messed around with curve and got this as an aftermath.

The aftermath of Photoshop.
*Just look at them curves!*

The Kit kat bar we used got the Photoshop treatment and with curves i got this contrasted image.

This amazing looking modern art is a curved up Kit Kat Chunky. pure excellence in itself if I say so!

Library Introduction: Tutorial.

Freaky Adverts.

Today in Faye's lesson we were put into groups of three's,
My group consisted of Paige and Reese whom of which possess a separate amount of skills.

Reese's skills are that he works with music and has confidence in what he is doing, He also posses an over active imagination which is something all creators and ideas persons should possess.

Paige's skills include singing, working with music *Like Reese* and camera work the singing and music aspect is a great addition to the team to help with the music settings.

We will be working together for 3 weeks to create a freaky and a unique TV advert.

we found 3 as an example.

1.) A McDonald's spoof advert.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ob0GbuUr8wc

2.) Little Baby's Ice Cream.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erh2ngRZxs0

3.) Zombie phones 4 U.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrIZnC8q7RQ

In the first advert it depicts a more spoofier, twisted way for an MacDonald's advert. the beginning just seems silly with a bunch of diagetic sound which then quickly turns sinister and ends with Ronald McDonald being restrained.

The Second advert entitled "Little Baby's Ice Cream "This is a Special Time" shows a man slowly and creepily eating Ice Cream off himself with the only non-diagetic sound being the woman saying the companies name when the advert comes to a close.

The Third Advert starts off with a man running through a forest being chased by something unknown which at the end of the video is a Zombie. The diagetic sounds are the man breathing and running and then the zombie when he speaks at the end promoting the offer that the company are having.

Advert: Merchandise Font.

In Owen's lesson we learned how to create our merchandise's logo ready for creation.

This is my attempt at 3 separate fonts for our Avidity Bar *Sorry for the typos*

we acquired the fonts from a website called Da Fonts the link can be found here - www.dafont.com. we have different one per person except me and Reece who have one matching. as you can see all are unique just like our advert. Paige's is below.

Reece's Fonts.

Displaying Untitled-1.jpg<---- The final font we have decided on.
The reason we have chosen this final font is because of how strange and plumply it is, as our bar is full of fruits and various tastes.
