Mark Epton: Martin Parr Butlins.

What time period do you think the photograph was taken? Give reasons for your answer.

My Answer is the 1980’s time period. Plus the lack of safety precautions and the clothing for me just screams 80’s.

What do you think was the genre/subject?

I would assume the subject is for a holiday brochure or just a generic post card cover.

Are the elements in the shot balanced?

The Photo is in fact very much balanced the monorail suggests this as its very sturdy.

What message could the photograph be trying to convey?

"come to butlins" is what i am feeling from this message plus it helps the meaning as their is old people in there proving its for all ages.

Do you notice anything striking about the shot?

All the bright colors and the fact that it is not of our time.

Do you think consent was needed from the subjects?

Not at all as their was no concept of pedophiles ever being a danger back then plus the photographer could have been hired by the place to take the photos.

What is the viewpoint?

The viewpoint of this photo is eye level.

If you were to produce this shot what would you do differently?

Ironically nothing at all? honestly this has captured a brilliant representation of a pause in time! the 80's best era of all and the clothes are colorful plus less of consent is needed.
